Zara Haq: A Rising Star in the Civil Liberties Movement

Zara Haq (she/her) is Senior Advisor and Regional Campaigns Lead for the Southwest. At the ACLU, Zara has led multiple electoral, legislative, and administrative campaigns on issues including voting rights, criminal legal reform, reproductive rights, and classroom censorship. Prior to joining the ACLU, Zara ran a political consulting and event management business, with clients including public figures, private organizations, and national campaigns. Zara also served as Political Director for the Democratic Party of Virginia’s official AAPI caucus, Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia. She has a B.A. in Philosophy and South Asian Studies from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, where she was Managing Editor of the Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law.
